    Will 1980 GS750 Speedometer fit on GS1100E?

Does anyone know if you can switch out the 1980 GS1100E speedometer (which has that crappy reading of only up to 80MPH)..with the 1980 GS750 speedometer (which more properly reads up to 140MPH)??

More specifically, I would need to know if that GS750 one will fit in my GS1100E instrument cluster case...

    Thanks!

Your "80" 1100 E speedo, should be flat across the bottom. This 750 speedo looks like it's from an "L" model 750, and not an "80" model. Everything had 80 mph. speedo's in "80" & "81". I can't think of anything that would interchange with the "80" 1100 E, except an "81" 1100 E or an "80" or "81" 750 E, that are also 80 mph. Hope I'm wrong, for your sake.

If the front wheel is a different diameter between the 2 bikes (which I assume it is), wouldn't the speedo be innacurate on the 'other' bike?

        speedo interchange

I have repaired/replaced about four speedos on my 81 850 with ones from different models/years, all of which read 140mph. Mine originally came with a 80mph.
I have noticed no difference in any of them for accuracy - I have been told that Suzuki used the same ratio at the speedo for all the GS series (and possibly more!). Also, the round ones all fit in my housing.

The difference is in the gearing of the speedo drive on the wheel
