Well guys, thx to all of you for your input on this. It took me forever to get around to it because I got so lazy that the problem had to get to the point where it would not crank at all anymore fast enough to start the bike.

So I remembered what a lot of you said about the commutator and the carbon in general in the starter so last night I pulled it out, took it apart and there was enough carbon and greasy crud in there to make a lump of coal out of!

I cleaned it all out and put it back together and now she cranks like a new bike hot or cold!
Have a listen click here --> Starter Cranking 550

I took advantage of this time to tighten the triple and lube the chain as well as pull off the fairing I had on there. That fairing was made for an E model style bike not an L model style bike like this LTD so I may not put it back on. Lowered the bars a bit and took a spin. Adjusted the dampers in the rear. She is ready Maybe I'll join the guys on that Maine ride after all

Anyway, thank you so much guys! You rock man
