    Carb problem?

I took the carbs off and cleaned them today. Re assembled them and fired the bike up. It seems ok till you rev it up . If you give it a little throttle, it rev ok , but most of the time if you give it a lot then it bogs down the rpm's drop and it wants to die.
    The Bike is a 1980 GS750L .
I do have the gas in it from the fall could that be it? It otherwise seems to run fine, or at least as fine as it can.

    Any Ideas?

I really hope I don't have to take the carbs off again

    Thanks guys,

    Jamie

Oh and the diaphrams seemed fine when I had the carbs apart.

    Bummer

Isn't it a bummer putting those carbs back on? (I have the same bike and don't remember when I've ever cussed so much  ).

I don't know what your problem is (maybe an air leak)...Earl or one of the other smart guys will come along and answer that but I sympathize with you 'cause I'm afraid the carbs may be coming back off...I hope not!

Yeah, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the airbox
Maybe it's time for individual filters
I won't mind having to take them off one more time if it means it'll run great again though

This is almost certainly an air leak check ALL connections for dfit and tightness.

As far as hoses there is the fuel line and the petcock vacuum line, and then two other places hoses go(one between each pair of carbs on the back side) are those for vent tubes? There are no hoses on them right now.

Yes there are supposed to be hoses on those, However I was refering to the boots to the head and to the airbox.

Where does the other end of the hose go?

I will check to see if the engine side boots are messed up. I don't have the airbox side fully on, in case it had to come off again.

Down the back of the motor to allow overflow to drain , and also to allow venting.

****************If you do not have the parts installed on the engine that are required for it to run correctly, please explain to me why on earth you expect the engine to run?

Well I guess I didn't realize how sensitive it was to having the airbox on.
I also assumed since the tubes were for vents and they were venting it would be fine for the moment.
                    Sorry

So do you think the air box not being connected is the problem then?
That would be cool if it was the problem

It is certain it is at least part of the problem. There is a fairly high probability it is all of the problem. You never know until you try.
