    84 1150 engine W/83 Katana 1100 wiring and ignition.

Wondering if anyone knows if the ignition mapping is different between these too bikes. I know the ignition plates look different.

The bike has been running this way for 10 years but, my wife's 1150 seems smoother at minute, (1/8 or less) around town, throttle openings.

    Any thoughts appreciated, Carter

I believe the ignition maps may be different, as the "black boxes" are different part numbers.

The advance is given in the manuals.

Thanks for the replies. I do have a spare black box for an 84 1150 but my ignition plate and advance mechanism is off the 83 1100. Do you folks think that would change anything?

I guess I could pull off the advance mechanism off the wifes bike and run it with the 1100 black box and see if there's any change in ride quality. Or do I need to run the blackbox and advance mechanism off the 84 1150 to see if there's a difference? Again, any input would be appreciated. Carter

I would try just swapping the black box first.
