HELP. I have just stripped dowm my carbs VM26 to clean them befroe fitting a K&N filter and have noticed that one of the pilot srews in the bottom of the carb has been bent (the tip). Does anyone know where I could get one of these as they are not listed in the parts book. I hope some one can help

You can try the dealer. There are also numerous web sites that sell carb parts/kits and I hope someone hops on here soon and posts some for you as I don't know any myself.
eBay is also a good source for carb rebuild kits for these bikes.

Pilot Screws
I am going through my carbs right now too. Been up late three nights straight, reading old posts. Boy I've learned a lot from this site...
As you state, these are not shown in the parts microfiche. AFAIK they are not available from Suzuki.
They were not included in the Keyster kits I bought. Nor were any o-rings. Maybe a different brand kit?
I noticed a couple of my pilots were bent a bit at the tip. I was able to straighten them out to the point they are not noticably bent anymore. I was very careful. They seem to go in fine. I hope this works out for me, since I don't know where to get new ones either...

One of these two should be able to help.

One more thing-
I meant to mention-
I have gotten parts from these guys in the past. They may be able to help. I notice the K&L kit for a GS750 of the same era has a pilot screw. BOTH gaskets, and all the o-rings. (I'm not saying that will work, I don't know) They don't list a K&L kit for 78-79 GS1000.
Send them an email. They have always replied promptly. They sell on Ebay, but prices are better straight from them. They are in Canada.
