Is the headlight on my 1983 GS750E a standard square model, or is it proprietary? If it's a standard square, are there quarter fairings from other makes that can be made to fit (square Nighthawk or ZRX for example)? Thanks for your help.

1983 GS750E headlight model question
This is my first post here, and with all my poking around, I haven't seen this question asked (or answered, for that matter).

Lots of the square headlamps are very similar in size but differ in the components....even between years with Suzuki. Suzuki used the same round lamps on lots of the cruisers but, for some reason, changed the "E" models all the time.
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking but if you're trying to come up with some fairing that will look good wrapped around your light, I imagine that you can. Even though there are zillions of different light set-ups, I'm sure many are of similar size. Good luck and welcome to the forum.1980 GS1100E....Number 15!

The 750/700ES model fairings will bolt right up to your E model. You will need the frame mounted bracket in addition to the fairing. I picked one up from a salvage yard years ago and added it to my 1983 GS750ED model-if you do go with this setup it will look better if you lower the bars-the ES bars or aftermarket clip-ons will work without hitting the bodywork. I will be glad to email you photos if needed. Good Luck, Ed.

Forgive me my ignorance, but I thought the 700/750E's used the big round light like the 1150E/ES? The square headlight was used on the 550E/ES and 700ES.

1983 is the first year for the unique bikini fairing wrapped around a square headlight on the 750E. (The gallery has some decent pictures of them.) The one on my bike is pretty thrashed, and I'm just looking for ideas for what to do about it, without getting in too far over my head. Thanks, guys.

I pulled the fairing and headlight off, replaced it with a round headlight in a black bucket and have a windsheild mounted now. I hated that square headlight. $65 for the headlight assembly and I got the smoked shield on sale for $75 so for $140 CAD I got the look I wanted.
