    1985 GS700E headlamp assembly

I have recently gotten a 1985 GS700E which needs a headlamp assembly. Could someone possibly tell me if there are other models and or years which have the same lighting unit?

    Thanks!

    headlight

because the headlight on gs700e's are 8" they are a pain to find fairings and windshields for. probably the best way to go is find and es headlight assembly then you could be an es replacement fairing...if all this is not to your liking convert to the 7" headlight and save yourself a lot of grief.

      GS700 Headlight

I am in the process of converting my GS700ES to an E model ( keeping all the ES stuff though)
The ES has a hard mount square headlight that has no bucket or anything. YOu would need to add the whole fairing. I just bought a 5 or 6 in headlight off ebay and got it today. I am going to make some custom brackets to mount it up. Was wondering if you could send me a pic of the front of the bike( As mine was an ES, I am curious what the mounts look like?
Let me know if I can help at all
      Thanks

My bad. I am new to the sport bike genre and apparently the guy I bought this bike from didn't know what is was either. Since this bike has the rectangle/square headlamp then apparently it is an ES.

Yes, if it has the square mount headlight, and an odd looking frame holding it all in, then it is an ES, does it have the fairing around the front?

is your fairing mounted to the handlebars or the frame?

It is mounted onto he frame via the mount which the headlamp also mounts.

then yours should be the ES model. the plain E model had the fairing on the bars, though you could change from one to the other with appropriate parts.
