    clutch slipping/engine mods

    Hi my cluch is slipping on my high mileage engine (56000 km)
    Is it beyond salvation ? I'm new to Suzy's and used to have a Yamaha.
    Everybody knows about Yama clutches?
    In general they aren't the greatest on the older Yamas
    Since I'm doing a engine swap from a low mileage parts bike I just got,I reckon I will rebuild my old engine.

    How good are the oem clutch on the 84 750?
    Would it be better to get a Barnett clutch?
    I'm planning a few mods to the engine a big bore kit with different cams,Gsxr cv carbs and stiffer valve springs.
    Is there a recipe for the 16 valve engine without breaking the piggy bank?

    The oem clutch is fine, if you're planning on racing you may want to go barnett.
    As for mods, Pipe, Pod filters, Mikuni RS34 carbs, and maybe some drop in cams is a pretty good setup. the GSXR CV carbs are much cheaper, and from what I hear work pretty well too. The RS's rock though.

      Beleive it or not, most all racers use the OEM Suzuki fibers..They are the best. I would not buy any other fibers..they are good on bikes that make several hundred horsepower.

        I second that opinion. I'd also stay away from heavy duty clutch springs.

          What sources are there for alternative cam grinds for these motors?

            Thanx guys,one of the reason I asked was cost as well.
            Sometimes oem is more costly than aftermarket stuff.
            I know EBC makes clutches and springs as well.
            I will use the product that's most affordable since barnett and ebc will be of equal quality
            I'm not planning on racing the bike.

            My very first bike was a cb750 sohc ,cafe racer style.with mag wheels and muscle machine body kit.
            890 venolia pistons norris camshaft,rc exhaust,mtc rods and smooth bore carbs.

            I wan't to build something simular but more modern and the gs750 16 valver seems to fit the the description .
            So far I've really been happy with it.

            This is more of a long term project but if the right stuff comes my way I'll usually get it

              GSbill is correct on the stock fibers. They are by far tyhe best. Barnetts eat into the aluminum on the basket and drag when hot.

                Note on the dragging Barnett fibers...I had an old 1100 Yamaha with Barnett fibers...they were so bad you had to hold the brake hard to keep the bike from creeping!
