    GS1000G oil and clutch help...

    g'day all,
I've got a 1981 GS1000G, and a couple of questions. I'm doing an oil change and need to know the procedure for draining and refilling the bevel drive on the bike. I'm assuming that I take out the screw marked 'oil level' and fill 'til it starts to run out that hole? how much for the rear wheel bevel drive?

also, having investingated the horrbily loud clutch, I've found that the clutch hub nut is quite loose, although the lock washer has been bent to stop it coming undone. again, I'm assuming the PO had trouble locking the clutch hub and just did up the nut as tight as he could get it (which isn't very tight at all!). should this be tight, and if so, what torque?

I also have a mysterious oil leak that seems to eminate from the top fo the crankcases, but I'll do a little more investigating before I start posting for answers on that...

    Questions

first is correct. The washer BEDS in sometimes but bend the tab and start the tightening procedure again. Third one is look at the cam tensioner and see if that is the problem for the leak

      Hi

marked 'oil level' and fill 'til it starts to run out that hole?
      Yes,~340-400ml

how much for the rear wheel bevel drive?
Up to buttom of fill hole,~280-340ml

should this be tight, and if so, what torque?

Now this is what the internet is all about. information sharing.
thanks guys. i tightened the hub nut, so I'll be interested to see if it quietens the beast down a little.
as for my oil leak, I'm pretty sure it's not the cam chain tensioner (which chronically leaks on my z650's), but I've thoroughly degreased the top of the crankcases so I'll hopefully be able to spot where it's coming from.
