Need some help on an electrical problem!

    I am having a minor/major problem with my 80 GS 1100...

At the end of last year, I had a problem with the information center flashing intermittently. Sometimes it would stay on, but if I hit a turn signal, it would go off.

    Same thing this year.

The other day, it came on and stays on, no matter what. Then I realize that my taillight is not working. No brake light, no running light.

I have looked everything over, but have had no luck finding anything obvious.

ANY suggestions are appreciated! I can;t ride till I find out what is wrong!!!!!

    Thanks!!!!

follow along your wiring harness and look for loose conections

Also look for any spots where the harness may have chaffed through to the frame somewhere. These spots can quite often be hidden and a good trick is to just loosen the tie wraps and move the harness a bit. If the problem goes away you know where to check.

This am I went over all the connections I could find, took the headlight out and checked everything, seat off, side covers off, everything I could look at........ Nothing! I will check it again, but it's weird that my taillight, brakelight, and turn signals work or don't work at the same time the info center lights up.......

I took it to the track tonight, and the problem miraculously cured itself :?

        Driving me nuts........ :?

          Nuts!

Yeah, those kinds of problems can drive you nuts! Since the tail light (and brake light) and the turn signals either don't work or do work in tandem, you've found something that they have in common. I'd take a look at a wiring chart and see if you can find where they converge...maybe all ground at the same point. That may help you solve the problem because I bet you'll find it's something rather simple. Good luck! It probably won't stay "fixed" without some help.

Yeah, it would help if I had a book with a diagram.......

            Any suggestions?
