electrical problem

i was blowing ignition fuses, and found one of the ignition coil mounting bolts broke so it was shorting i guess. fixed it and the fuse dosn't blow anymore but i have no dash lights and start button still won't work

Sounds like you're blowing a different fuse now.

Common ground...

You may have unwittingly answered your own question...

Check the ground wires (black w white stripe) -> clean connections, and if that fails see if connecting the disconnected wire to ground (get a ~4ft piece of loose wire, attach it to the negative battery post, or somewhere on the engine) causes the light-in-question to start up...
