How to get ign lock cylinder out of housing

I need to replace my ignition lock and I'm having a hard time getting the lock cylinder out of its housing. I have removed all screws and I cannot get it out.

Up near the lock cylinder there are three evenly-spaced little holes with tiny little sleeves in them. I tried pushing a wire in one of them but it didn't feel like it did anything, so I abandoned that.

I'm at a loss other than this, which I don't want to do: uncrimp the steering lock mechanism, remove it, and try to get at the back of the lock cylinder. Uncrimping things is risky business...

    Help!

mopolopo, if its anything like my Kawasaki's, the lock itself is held in with rolled pins, and you need to drive them with a pin punch.

I've replaced the igntion lock on my 450LE. You've already got it dismantled as far as you need to go - just unplug the wiring and you're done. I bought an EMGO generic for mine, and it bolted right back on. You don't need to remove the lock cylinder from the mounting bracket.

      hope this helps...Sam

Martin is correct. The three holes you see contain rolled pins. I do not know if you can drive them out, or have to find a way to drill, or pull them out, but they will have to be removed to withdraw the lock cylinder. I replaced the whole thing on my bike, with one from a used bike.

I think I'm going to go with the complete replacement like you.
