Re: Bubbling Oil
After riding my 81 GS650 for about an hour the oil in the oil window start to boil. Is that something to be concerned about? When the bike is cold the oil is right at the full mark. I was thinking of adding some more oil, but I'm not sure if I should. Any suggestions would be great.

More info: Brand and weight, do you just see bubbles? or is it actually boiling like water would in a pan?

Its a 1981 suzuki gs650e. It could just be bubbles, but there seemed to be alot of them, and appeared as though i was boiling.

There could be some water in the oil. That can cause bubbles or foam to show up in the oil.
The oil level may show as being low after riding because some of the oil is still in the system. Wait a few minutes to check the oil after shutting the engine off.
Try an oil and filter change and see if the problem persists.

hot bike
Do you know if the bike is running lean or not. I have a gs650 at the moment, and it sure gets hot in a short time as its running way too lean. I'd be sure of this before you ride any more if I were you. When (it used) to be running fine there was no problem with the oil boiling, theres no way it should ever get this hot, and after an hours riding I don't think there will be any water vapours left in the crank case.
