hello,all
i have 1980 gs850g, is the 850 a bored out 750,
if so can i use engine casing from the 750,
any help would great.

dunno bout the states but...

In europe, the gs750 was a chain, and the gs850 was a shaftie...
Some parts are interchangeable though, but I dont think the cases will be...

nope, the 850 is a differant engine, it is related to the 1000g, differant crankshaft and 1mm smaller bore size, but I think all other parts will interchange (except the head, it has a smaller combustion chamber)

The original 850 was an over bored 750 with a shaft drive. Nick would be the person to answer this the best. Either the 2nd or 3rd year they made it it's own motor.
