The reason for not riding with a radial front and bias rear is that you corner based on the front tire. Radials have lower sidewalls and different grip and roll characteristics. If you push the limits of the front radial, you will likely find the rear snapping loose, which will happen very suddenly, spinning out the bike.

For the same reason I would not mix a sport tire front/hard compound touring tire rear, although if they were the same construction it would be less dangerous.

A bias front/radial rear is, as mentioned above, perfectly fine.
