Fuel Petcock Question

1982 GS1100E newbie here but have owned many other bikes. Is there a trick to getting the fuel petcock to turn or is mine just frozen?

They should be tightbut, not that tight.

Grab it with a pair of pliers and turn it. The extra leverage you get with the pliers will make it move. DO NOT force it.

If it doesn't move with the pliers, replace the petcock.

Thank you for the suggestion; the pliers did the trick. It works very smooth now so I'm assuming it wasn't turned in a while.

Keep an eye out for leaks and petcock failure. Mine was like that then one day it just gave out. I was on vacation while a gallon and a half just leaked straight out the petcock body. The stickiness may be varnished gas that leaked inside the petcock.

Keep an eye on it.
