Start problem Suzuki GSX 1100 EF

My `85 model SUzuki GSX 1100 EF won`t start when I hit the start button.

The starter runs extremely slow a short while then it`s dies. Tries again and the same happens.
Every time the Battery and + wire get very hot.

STarter is new (changed), battery is OK, starter solenoid is ok.
When i jump start the bike i`t start`s immediatly and runs nice.

    Any ideas what`s wrong???

    Thank you in advance!

Could be something in the starter.

Could be something to do with the starter itself. The wires leading too it may be the problem, but I bet if you take it out and inspect it internally you'll find the problem. May or may not be internal, but a problem like that is bound to reveal itself when you do a little dismantling.

This sounds like a grounding problem. The excess electricity has nowhere to go and it heats up the parts. Check the ground wires for corrosion.

I had a simular problem, and it turned out to be an intermittent shortcircuit to ground in the starter rotor.

You wrote that the starter was new, was it brand new or used?

If it was used before I would check the rotor.

`The starter is a old one that has been completely rebuilt. It should be ok!

I will check all the wire between the starter an d the battery, Including the ground wires.

Could it have something to do with a broken regulator??

            Is your battery charged?

The first time I rebuilt my starter I got the 2 long bolts that hold it all together too tight and had a similar problem with it until I loosened those screws.

as mopolopo wrote, make 100% sure that the abttery is OK and charged.

The regulator has nothing to do with the starter, as long as the battery is charged.
