    Front fork question

    Hi again,
I am in the middle of putting right a 81 GS750E and started to find that some people don't fix a bike right . My problem is the front forks, the previous owner blew the air caps and filled one with a wood screw in the valve and the other with a bolt of the right size and thread and got rid of the valve. The question is how important is the air in the front forks I was thinking of just sealing off the caps with proper bolts and seals then getting the grade and amount of oil right, would this be wrong? I have heard of too much air pressuer blowing the fork seals and I have just replaced them and don't want to do that again for awhile. Thanks in advance,
    Ian

If you use the progressive fork springs, A lot of people do away with the air pressure

I just installed a set of Progressive springs and haven't had the need for air in them.

Yea, I'd get the progressives and forget the air.
