    ATV Jack

 I need to jack up my GS 550 to change sprocket and change front tie. Can I use a ATV jack. The engine is lower than the frame and both jack bars will be under the pan. will the wieght crack the pan or should the frame be shimmed. After two years restoring, almost ready for a ride.

I used one a few weeks ago to lift my 1100E and it was no problem other than having to take off my exhaust. No biggie though. Dosen't hurt a thing.

You can do that..Use a piece of wood or something to distribute the bikes weight on the lift, so its not concentrated on the pan, i.e., plywood works good. Dont knock it over!

As an alternative, what I did was use a transmission jack (mine was from Harbor Freight, FWIW). It was a bit too tall to slide under the pan, so I had to remove the casters. After that, it was fantastic.
