Source for Stator Magnet wire

Hello all. My first post here...great site BTW.

I just picked up an 85 GS700 with the infamous charging problem. The stator is shorted and the RR is fried. I ordered an electrex RR but I wanted to learn how to rewire the stator myself.

Does anyone know a good mail order source for the magnet wire that can take the oil and temps?

Will it handle hot oil?

Look for an electric motor rebuilder in your area. CHeck the stator pages for info on rewinding

Thanks. I've read all the stator pages. They mention wire for $5 a pound. The wire at Allied is about $25 a pound so I figure I must be missing something. It does look like good wire though. I suppose the big price difference is because the local guys buy the big spools. (??)

I'm on a somewhat isolated peninsula and the closest motor shop is going to be 100 miles away over a $20 bridge so that's the reason for going mail order.
