Where can I get a new exhaust for cheap?

I'm looking for a new exhaust system for my '82 GS850G. The one that is on it, I have no idea what it is. The bike is running for crap, and since I don't know what it is, I don't know where to start. It is pretty rusty in places, so I figure the best place to start is with new exhaust and specs from the maker.

I'm looking to do this as cheaply as possible while still staying with something new. I think it might be hard to find a good used exhaust around me. (northern IL)

    Thanks.

Some great Suzi mechanics here. Tell us your symptoms, and we can walk you through a proper diagnosis, rather than the shotgun approach or replacing things until it works.

First thing, read your plugs. Pull your spark plugs, paying attention to which cylindar they came from. It don't matter where they go back, but diagnosing a plug is linked to the cylindar they came from.

    White/pitted = too lean.
    tan/light brown = just right
    black/powdery = rich
    black/wet = way rich
    black/oily = probably bad rings

Someone will post a link to a great site for the beginner at reading plugs soon.. they always do.

I bought a new Vance and Hines for about $250, shipped.

It's a 4>1, no jetting was needed, the bike was jetted already.
They do reccomend jetting, so that adds $$$.
But it is new and shiny

      Just a thought......
