The one from the KZ440 I fried yesterday/the day before. it went from working (passing all the tests in the stator papers) to having two diodes fail the test. Not a pretty situation. Evidently I picked up the wrong model rectifier. I have an actuall cx500 one coming.

          That sucks, buddy.

So now we know, the SH222 doesn't work.

The KZ440's are a single phase stator and the R/R should have had only two yellow wires on it. If that was the stock R/R it will not work. If it had three yellow wires there is a good chance somebody has already messed with the charging system in the past.

they "said" it was from a KZ440. :-) i'm not sure I trust them. It is a 5 wire reg. (just like the one I removed) And before I installed it, it passed the tests in the stator papers. Right now, it fails on two circuts. However, at least my stator is still good :-) ~80 volts at 5krpm.

Ihave been using SH532 12 ( Honda CB 450 from eighties ) for the last 3 years, and it is not failing. I have another one waiting on the shelf in case current one fails. For $30 Cdn I can afford to change them from time to time. I have some gadget from Smartcircuit monitoring charging my battery too. Very usefull device.
SH532 12 are six wires units but work in my GS1150 without problems.

Where do you hook up the brown (sixth) wire. IIRC, I'm supposde to hook it up to a switched 12volt source.

If it is a smaller gauge wire, that's where.

I already found the info, but thank you. The black wire goes to the 12v sence line. Green goes to ground. red goes.. well duh ;-) and the three yellows goto the stator.

If you haven't guessed ;-) it worked.
