How far can I push it?
What is the maximum compression I can have with pump gas?? I am thinking about using 13.5 to 1, but I can only get 92 octane. Also... where can I find big bore kits? I know all about wiseco. I wanna push it to the limit.Tags: None

i think 13.5/1 would be to high for street riding and with pump gas, if it was liquid cooled then maybe i would say yes.

Modern bikes can run upper 11 compression rations on 92 octane. I am around upper 11s on my Gs1000 and it needs 96 octane to be safe...If I need to I can use 92 octane but real careful...
With 13.5 it may need even higher octane

It depends on alot of things but for an air cooled motor that will be ridden I would not go over 10.5 maybe 11.5 if it has HP cams with 92 octane dish water. 13.5 only if you want to run racing gas More compression equals more heat, that will lead to a meltdown. The newer bikes can use higher compression because of the electronic controls for fuel injection and timing controls, water cooling and other methods.

If you really want to run pump premium you need to stay under 11:1 unless you are going to turbo charge it or something. 13.5:1 is just not streetable without racing fuel.

Hey there ScarletSpyder, you ever listen to Paul Brand on KSTP 1500 AM? He always talks about someplace around the cities you can get non-oxegonated(sp?) fuels along with higher octane stuff for off-road riding. Might be worthwhile to shoot him an e-mail at the station and find out about it.
