    750/1000 Carb spacing

Will a rack from a 78 750 have the correct intake runner spacing to fit on to a 78/79 1000 motor. Both 2-valve. I am asking because I am looking for a 78/79 gs1000 (non-shaft) to serve as my winter turbo project. I KNOW that my manifold and header system fit on a 750. Im trying to decide on either a 850 (750 overbore) or finding a 1000 and going with the 1100 kit. I need new pistons with both kits. Anyone have a "spare" gs1000 4-valve motor for sale of know a good place to look in S.W. Ontario for one? I'll need the entire motor minus carbs.

    Anyone??......

Yes the spacings are the same. Kz900/1000 are the same too.

Don's right. Many of the older GSXR's have the same 77-93-77mm spacing as well.

Check the last page of http://www.sudco.com/catalog/Page%20123-127.pdf for more info.

        KZ 650
        KZ 750
        KZ 900
        KZ 1000-1100
        GS 750
        GS 1000-1150
        GSX-R 750 up to 1992 (air-cooled)
        GSX-600 Katana (1988 up to 1997)
        GSX-750 Katana (1989 up to 1997)
        GSX-1100 Katana 1988 to end (1993?)
        GSX-R1100 (1986 up to 1992 - air-cooled)

I think the 750 pipes are a smaller diameter than the 1000's even though the spacing is the same. I have both these motors. You'll be able to get lots more performance parts if you use a 1100/1150 motor. I may have some parts laying around if you want to pm me. I'm in Tillsonburg just down the road from you.

There is NO SUCH THING as a Katana built in 1988 to 1997. All Katana's are GS 16 valve engines and are air cooled, not air-oil cooled.
Let us be clear on this OK

Thanks for the info. Knowing that they are the same spacing makes my plan a little bit easier and I can proceed to the next step of finding a sutiable 1000 2-valve motor to start off with.
