Diagram of trans gears engaging in each gear

Trying to find pic's or diagrams of the GS1100 transmission in each gear. I like to know what gears is engaged with other gears during shifting and see what gears are loaded.

It's alittle early to split my the cases.

      Why are you looking, Jake?

Do you have a manual that gives a good exploded view of the tranny? It should be possible to puzzle it out from the view if it is decent. Are you looking for an explanation of how it works, or more of the nuts and bolts of your particular machine?

I am going to pick up my factory manual at lunch today, I can have a look and see if they have a decent view or not in there if you want.

I got a spare tranny in a box that's been race cut and was wandering which gears would be engaged when shifting from 1st through 5th.

I've have'nt found anything yet thats shows it.

Well, the order of them isn't clear from the shots in my manual, but I can tell you that 1st and 2nd are the two outer sets (on opposite end of the shafts) and 3rd, 4th and 5th are the middle 3. From the diagram in the manual, one shaft has two gears splined to it and the other shaft has 1 gear splined on from the looks of it, but I can't tell which shaft is which in their drawing. Are you wondering how the free rotating gears and splined gears work together (which is fairly simple to explain) or exactly the order of operations on your tranny?

I'd like to know if it pop's out of gear, which gear would most likely be at fault. Come this winter when I split the cases I'll take a few pictures and make my own diagram. Just trying to learn alittle transmission voodoo.
