How to tell if your exhaust gasket(s) is leaking?

I can usually hear an exhaust leak, but the bike in question is across the country and the owner says he can't hear a leak. I suspect the bike has a leak at the gaskets.
Any tips on checking/exposing leaks would be appreciated.

Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

When cold, you can spray Formula 409 or other soapy, bubbling type soap and water mixture on the flanges to see if leaks that way....just doe not work well when hot, but it should work long enough on a cold bike to get an idea.

if there is a small leak some times you can see carbon build up around the clamp, or head.

          leak

small piece of pipe with a rubber tip(earpiece)held up around the exhaust and up to the ear will find the smallest leak, hardware store 18"X 1/8" copper works great $2.00
