    push pull cable

I bought a set of 89 GSXR 36mm carbs a while back and plan to install them this spring to see how they compare to the jetted stock ones I have.

Can anybody verify whether I need a push pull cable and tell me if i need a specific type? Thanks in advance.

The pull cable is a saftey feature MANDATORY at most racing tracks
    it will work without it

I think the GSXR carbs have a butterfly valve right? if they do, you don't need a pull cable, if they don't, and the cable pulls the slide directly, you will need one. The problem with not running one on the direct pull systems is that the air flow can actually over come the spring preasure and keep the slides open, a butterfly valve isn't effected by this.

If they are CVs you only need the single pull cable. On smoothbores there is no throttle plate. Vacuum can cause the slides to stick open on smoothbores. If that happens you need the push cable to close the throttle.
