Gs1100 Crank is filling with fuel

My Crankcase has filled with fuel twice now. THe first time i lost spark in my number 3 cylinder, so i fixed that and cleaned all my carbs out.and changed oil. It ran fine for a couple of weeks. It has now done the same thing again. I've been told to replace the petcock (the guy who owned it before me had is jammed on prime and just rigged in an on/off value after the petcock. I also think that the petcock is a vacuum controlled on and there is onl one line coming out if it and thats the fuel line (is this right). I purchased an aftermarket one and it has the on...off...and res. settings. no prime, but i believe that it is a vacumm controlled one too (does that matter) I'm new to this bike thing and this is my first. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If there is a vac line, there will be another connection for a hose on the opposite side of the petcock from the fuel line. However, it sounds like the problem is in that petcock rig the previous owner made for you. Go ahead and put on a new petcock.

does the pet cock need a prime position and does it matter if i run a vacuum line. If i need a vaccum line where do i run it to?

IF IT DOES NOT have a prime position it is a manual petcock and YOU NEED to turn it off when you park the bike
Make sure the vacuum fitting on the #2 carb is pluged

the new petcock that i have for it has a nipple for the fuel line, and on the other side of the petcock there is a bolt threaded in plugging a hole. The kit also cae with a couple of extra nipples. Is this hole for a vacuum line? it it is then i should be able too hook it up and have a vaccum petcock am I correct?
