    Oil capacity for 1977 GS750?

Can someone please tell me the amount (in US quarts) of oil is needed for a 1977 GS 750?

    Thanks!

3.6 U.S. quarts if the oil filter is not changed. If the filter is changed, 4.0 quarts.

      Thanks.

There's a guy on one of the other forums who says his oil window shows "low" with 5 quarts, and full at 6 quarts of oil.

Why in the world would it be taking that much oil??

Without knowing what bike we are talking about, I havent any idea. I dont know of any bikes that require 6 quarts of oil.

I'm talking about the 1977 I described in my first post.

            GFD,

I've got a 78 with the same motor and it is marked with 3400cc next to the oil fill. That equates to aforementioned 3.6 quarts. I agree with bandit though; you need a bit extra when changing the filter.

I've got a '79 750E and it is marked 3.8 liters which is 4 quarts. I have also discovered that the oil in the window will change levels remarkably depending on the angle of the bike. The oil should be checked with the bike on the centerstand ON A LEVEL SURFACE. If the surface isn't level, the oil level in the window will be wrong.
