What size carbs are in a gs1000

nope, the 79 850 uses the Mikuni VM26SS, 1980 and later 850's use the mikuni BS32SS (32mm), the 1000 uses the BS34SS (34mm), this is on the shaft driven bikes, chain drive bikes also used slightly larger carbs on 1000's.

The "78" & "79" GS 1000 chain drive models used the 26mm slide carbs. I think the "79" GS 1000 E model used the 34mm vacum carbs as did all the big GS's from then until the "84" GS 1150 came with 36mm vacums

The GS1000 had 28mm carbs in some markets after the first year. I'm sure US got VM28's as well, but Canada had VM26s.
