Oil pressure switch question for 1980 GS1100E

I need to get a couple of new screws....My uncle took the oil pressure switch off and the old screws cannot be found.

Do anyone know what kind of screw specs they are?

    Thank you!

P.S. Can anyone tell me what the purpose of the oil pressure switch is?

They are a common metric thread size...get a few that are 6mm diameter and try them..do not force them.

The purpose of the switch is to let you know when you have low oil pressure which can result in engine failure.

I bought some 6mm screws and....

It went in ok at first...then stopped being easy to turn. Not sure if I should turn any further. I tried a 5mm and it fell thru. There isn't a size between 5mm and 6mm is there?

Maybe I just need to spray some WD40 down there...

        Any suggestions, Hap?

        Thanks!

It may be the right diameter, just the wrong thread pitch.
