Ricks R/R and Stator?? any good?

    Hey,

I came across a R/R and stator for my 1980 GS550L on www.denniskirk.com by the manufacturer Ricks. I know Electrex is known to be good and reliable, but the Ricks brand is a good bit cheaper (save close to $50 between the two).

Does anyone know about the quality of Ricks products? If they're just as good as Electrex, then I'd love to save some pennies.

I had already asked this question (in the interests of saving that $50!) and one of the answers I got was: somebody on the GSR contacted Electrex directly to ask about Ricks brand, and apparently Electrex substitutes Ricks when their own are too back-ordered, so I guess that's a vote of confidence.
(Imagine paying the extra $50 and getting the Ricks one anyway!)

What is the main difference between Ricks and Electrex besides the price? I'm in need of a new RR, and I would also like to save $50. I did notice that the Ricks is slightly smaller. Maybe not cool as efficiently as the Electrex?

I've got a Rick's "Universal" R/R and it seems to work OK.

I just called Dennis Kirk technical support and asked about the differences between the Electrex and Ricks R/R. Both are built to model specific specs. Either one will work great.
