oil & petrol mixture in air box

    help!

    just alittle bit stumped!

havent been out on the bike for a while and the other half started it for me today and it fired first turn (which was great!) after 5 mins cut out and leaked oil & petrol mix from the overflow off the air box.

    any ideas at all?

this is the first time it has ever done anything like this.

sounds like one or more of the carb float (needle) valves hung open allowing gas to overflow into the crankcase, you'll need to change the oil and correct the offending float valve...sometimes being stored on the sidestand, will help a float hang up, as it's not square to the bowl and pushes up on the needle valve unequally, causing it to bind, could be a chunk of dirt in there too, or a groove in the float pivot rod.

I had an 80 1100E fill my entire airbox with oil. I was 300 miles from home. I routed the breather hose into a Chevron oil can and recycled oil every 10-15 miles. I made it home.

Turned out to be the ringland area between the top ring and the 2nd had collapsed on two pistons. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but maybe a compression test would also be worth doing.
