1979 GS850 vs 1980 GS850

Can I swap the carbs from a 1979 to a 1980? I know one is cv and the other VM I think? I've had so much toruble with mine, I have a working set off a 1979 that I was thinking about putting on.

Thoughts?

No you can't unless you change the cilinder head too, sorry.

agreed, when Suzuki switched to the CV carbs they enlarged the intake ports to match the larger carbs, so you would have to come up with some sort of adapter to get them to seal and you also would have to rejet the VM's for the better flowing 80 head.

You could use the 79 carbs. You would have to fab your own manifold adapters BUT why do it I'm guessing you would loose preformance
of the bigger 80 head
