I have some question for you tho. If i got the k@n pods do you think if i raise the needle all the way up, and turned in the air screws all the way, it would richen it enough for idle and midrange. Or would i need a new needle jet or to make spacers? Oh and is it possible to drill out the main jet?

Ok thanks for all your time and help. I have checked out the website I understand about jets and reading the plugs and how to see if its right.

Suzuki has already designed the GSX1400 with a dirty big oil cooler and a temp controlled fan. The old motors are pretty tough, and a reasonable sized oil cooler is usually sufficient.
Dieseling is usually carbon buildup. Red hot carbon still ignites the mixture after the ignition is turned off. Getting the mixture right is the first thing to do.

My goal here is to get pods for the carbs and get richer so it will run cool and strong...after that i am going to install an oil cooler...now on a 78 gs400 how could i make the system work...there is an oil filter cavitie underneth and there is a chrome nut on the stator cover that if u take off leads to a oil journal ...i dont think this motor had an oil pressure switch or anything either....and since it runs in roller bearings it has a low pressure pump can any one suggest to me how i would go about connecting an oil cooler to my engine?
