Dyna coils work fine with the OEM ign. When you start getting into the GSX I have heard the Nology (sp) coils fit better. If you just want some fresh coils check ebay for some later model coils
Regardless you need 3 ohm coils

Check this recent thread on coils:

BTW, Dennis Kirk sells both the dyna's and accel's. Dunno if they're on the website but they are in the catalog.

Also, the CDI ignitions use the lower resistance coils. But, unless I'm mistaken, I don't think that the '84 GS came with a CDI - just a regular electronic ignition.

The reason I mention this is if you get coils for a CDI system and yours is regular electronic you'll fry your ignitor..

Correct on both counts Jeff. I have said this many times before and some still insist on calling the ignition system CDI. Once again, NO, NONE, NADA, GS motorcycles of any model or size were EVER manufactured with a CDI ignition system. The all have electronic ignition systems or points ignition systems. All GS electronic ignitions require a 3 ohm coil. Points ignition systems can use either a 3 or 5 ohm coil.
