    82 gs1100e auxiliary lighting question....

I want to run PARTTIME a 100watt running light for use durring the weee hours of the night. A flood style foglight similar to the ones I use on the car.

My plan is to eliminate the running light function of the turnsignals, in order to save a few watts, and make it less of a strain on the charging system and battery.

The entire charging system was replaced with new last year with genuine suzuki parts, and It is as far as I know a 100% functional system with a new battery.

Is this possable and advisable, i would think the added saftey of the light would be good to light up the roadway for night time jaunts.

    Thanks

I've added a set of 55W Halogen Driving lights to my bike for my long nighttime runs ( I'm a Long Distance rider). Total draw is 110W. I haven't had any problems with my lights, as long as I'm running with the revs over 4000. Below that, the power starts to drop and I have to turn the driving lights off to keep the battery charged.

A single 100W bulb should be no problem.

You can if you want to, but you don't really need to. Your charging system should be a bit beefier than mine, but you'll probably still only have enough excess to run the driving light when you are cruising at speed. You'll want to shut it down putzing around in town, and you'll probably want the turn signal running lights then.

I agree with WhyteGryphon....I too have a 110w set of driving
lights on my GR (I work graveyard shift so lots of night riding).
I don't have any drain problems while riding but do need to
shut them off a few miles before my destination to replenish
the battery. The GR650D also has a 4w running light (under headlight)
and I usually have my LED (under tank) kit on as well.
