MSD MC-2

Got a MSD MC-2 and was wondering which is the better the MC-1, MC-2,or the MC-3??? I got a 1 and 2, and have yet to use either one......

Go with the MC2, It's got everthing you want; high and low rpm's that's great for launching, tack source, air kill too. I think it's the best bang for the buck. The only con is the size. I got mine mounted upside down and supported above the battery with fuel hose for almost 2 years now.

I still have an old 2 on my bike. Works fine. Agree that the big difference is the 2 rev limiters built in versus needing the external boxes on the MC1. It weighs a lot compared to the Dyna SP4000 and takes up a lot of space. Requires a gound for kill, so keep this in mind if you put an auto on it.

I got a set of MSD coils or can I use Dyna Coils?? (green)

Good question. I don't know, but am guessing that you need the MSD coils. I would write MSD.

Below is from their instruction; As for me, I'm still using the stock coils. The Dyna coils will work great too.

Coils: The MSD MC-2 will work with factory and most aftermarket coils. Better spark energy
is received at the plug if lower resistance coils are used (1.5 ohm). However for maximum
ignition output, an MSD Motorcycle Coil, PN 8204 is recommended. The MSD coil is
designed specifically for use with the MC-2 Ignition. It has less resistance and a high turns
ratio to match the full capability of the MC-2.
WARNING: Do not touch or connect any test equipment, accessories, etc. to the coil
terminals.
Spark Plugs: The increased spark energy of the MC-2 allows you to run a wider spark
plug gap (.045"-.060"). The result is more predictable ignition and improved performance.
