    OK, why wouldn't this work?

I'm not thinking I have the technical knowhow to pull this off but....

I'm looking at having to pull my carbs off, yet again and it's making pods look real nice. However I've read all the stuff about because the airflow is greater you haveto re-jet the carbs and put a header on. My thought is why hasn't some enterprising individual made a set of pods that have the same air flow as the air box. So in short, designing them to restrict the airflow or better yet, make them tunable? Just a thought...

LOL, I just want my bike to run, reliably. And be sort of easy to work on if need be. I have an idea, wanna trade, you seem to have fixing these T's up right and look like you need to do another one just to prove it isn't luck!

thanks but no thanks i got a 1000 that i am working on that is enough trouble i don't need another problem child.

if you want to try playing with some pods i have 3 emgo like pods they were pro sport brand but probly from the same chineses factory. i could sell you these cheap. you would just need to buy one more and i can help you find one. i didn't use them cause with my bike jetted they were to ristricted and wouldn't let my bike get enough air so i switched to the k and n type, the kit recomended but not untill out of frustration i chopped up one of the filters tryig to get more air, hence 3.

what i am thinking is find some filters like these and you could experiment by covering some of each pod up with tape or somthing maybe even vasoline, until you get the same air flow as you would from the airbox. it wold be lots of trial and error but i bet you could get somthing pretty good. then after you figure out how much each pod needs to be blocked then take them off and dip them up to the needed restriction point in polyurithane or somthig gas proof let dry then you have permantly metered air filters that mimic your air box without the hasel of a air box.

I'm working on rejetting my bike (1980 gs550e) for EMGO pods. $24 of pods. :-) You're going to need to goto a 140ish main jet. I ended up moving my needles up 1/8" Yes, that's INCH...

I will be posting the "base setup" for an open exhaust and emgo air filters on a GS550 within a week.

The biggest problem with "restricting" pods is that they won't flow the same as the airbox. Though I may need to try taping off part of my air filters for the crud run if I don't get my new jets in time. :-)

If you love it, let it go. If it comes back....... You probably highsided.

If your not changing to headers you need to use smaller jets,Iinstalled 138 jets origannally and now I'm running120's they seem to be the ones that work for me .not too rich not too lean.(I stayed with the 4 into 2 if you hadn;'t figured that out)
