    Outside diameter of GSXR carbs

    Hi!
Does anyone know the outside diameter, (towards the intake boots), of the 34mm carbs on 86-89 GSXR 1100?

I am wondering if they will fit in the intake boots of a GS1150, which I believe have approx. 42mm inside diameter.

    Thanks / Mikael

Don't know for sure, but I did spend the night at a Holiday Inn Express, anyhow I was able to squeeze on a set of 38mm GSXR 750 carbs on to GS1100 boots.

I think the 1150's were 36mm carbs so 34's should work with a few more twists of the screwdriver

Yes, the stock carbs for the 1150 are 36 mm, and their outside diameter is 42mm. I also have
a set of 34mm carbs from an older GS1100 sitting on a shelf. They have 41,5mm outside diameter.

The inside diameter and the outside diameter does not seem to be at a strict ratio. I still wonder,
will the GSXR 34:s fit nicely, or should I look for a set of size 36mm carbs instead. Or as in our case,
      a set of 38mm carbs.

I have run 86' GSXR1100 34mm flatslides on my 16v 1983 GS750ED for many years. They bolted right up to the stock intake boots and work great with a DJet kit and pods. The 89' and 90' GSXR1100's used 36mm flatslides (1127cc motor) before going to 40mm in 1991. I would go with the 36's for your 1150 as the 34's were only put on the smaller 1052cc motor. I would be willing to bet that they will bolt right up. Good Luck, Ed.
