    Only five runs tonight

Yep the track open at 7pm and by 8:30 I was done. Not because I wanted too but on the 5th run when slowing down in the shut down area the bike was making a funny sound from inside the engine so I shut her off and pushed the bike but to the truck.

Checked the cranked again and it's not twisted, checked cam timing and all springs, keepers, rockers and chain; they all checked good.

So tomorrow it's compression check time along with Carbs, lockup and started clutch check, if they all check ok then maybe a bearing problem. Can't complain already got 100 runs on her since Feb, I guess she just wants more attention.

Tried 165 jets and on the first run I was already at 109 mph with a RT of 0.5001, could of been a great night to break into the 110 club and maybe get in the 6.05's.

    There's always next week

Did a compression check today and got 180+ on all cylinders, so the head and valves are good.

Pulled off the stator cover and notice the ring gear would make a whaling sound, pretty much sure this is the same sound I heard last night. So I put the cover back on and fired her up and no noise yet.

All i got to do is pickup a 35mm nut so I can pull the starter clutch off the crank to see whats worn in there.

I got mine out one time so far. Went 10.07 @133 with a 1.60 60'. SHould probably run 9.80 or so. My base gasket is leaking pretty good. Other than that no noises so far. Good luck.

That should'nt be problem for you Ryan. That 60 ft really sucked I bet, but you got more power and most likely need to play with your clutch and launch rpm until you find that sweat spot again.

Did you pickup 5 mph with the 1150 head.

          Yes it did. I went 10.11 @ 128 with a 1.39 60' last year. Just with the 60' I should be at least a 9.70-9.86 @133. Maybe 6.20 in the 1/8th.

The head is 1150, no porting, stainless steel valves std intake +1 ex. I also switched the cams from 325 lift megacycle to 348 lift web. These are the same vlaves I had in the 1100 head I was having trouble with. The one with the intake guides that were a tad crooked and causing the adjusters to mushroom on the tip.

I changed the pressure plate to mtc with the buttons for the lockup arms. It must put way more pressure than the pressure plate I was using. It's bogging the motor bad. I'll get it eventually.

That's right, i forgot the door stopper head

Sounds like you got a great game plan going and good luck this year

I can't do any better than 1.39 too with my M/T 26x7 slick. I'm thinking that might just be the limit for that tire. The car tire guys I've run have 1.20's to 1.32's. Maybe a longer swingarm would help?

Pulled the starter clutch out and the bearings looked good, so I pulled my clutch assy out and found bits of the #4 connecting rod thrust washer laying around.

Looks like it spit it right out of there. So I'll be sending if off to get it repaired and might as well get it welded too. Only had over 800 runs on it, you think it would last to a thousand!

Too bad. I thought you bought a new/used crank for it a while back. The one with the pitted rod that everyone liked so much.

I'm getting there. I got a 1.40 60' and ran 9.88 @131. 6.23 in the 1/8th. MPH was down a bit, but the track was bad.

Is this a typo?? I was thinking that you had been running very close to the 9's in the 1/4 last. Was this a 9.88 in the 1/4? If so, CONGRATS!!!! Even if it isn't, 131 MPH in the 1/8 would be very impressive!!!!

I switched to an 1150 head with a 348 cam. Last year 10.18@128. This year 9.88 @131. I kept that ticket. My first 9 second pass. I should be able to get a little more out of it. Not bad for an 1166 low compression motor with a 210 lb guy on it. Oh and my wife was *@%^$*@%^$*@%^$*@%^$ed. I told her I wasn't going to go any faster. I told her it was an accident. OOps my bad.
