Ok. By lowering the needle, do you mean raising the E-clip?
    Yup.

OK, just wanted to make sure....

Also, you were correct to assume that the missing is occuring at about 1/8th throttle.....

Certainly no disrespect to Earl, but PM's about technical stuff only gives you one opinion, even if that opinion is a trusted one.
I get PM's about this stuff and that's the first thing I say now. It's better to get more people involved and we all read and learn.
Rice is nice, if you still need help let us know.

Rice is Nice, remember, the K&N jet kits are designed with K&N pod filters in mind. It will work with your Emgo's, but the jet kits "base settings" will be richer with the more restrictive Emgo's.
Also, a good vacuum synch is required with any re-jetting. You can't get accurate plug reads or best performance without a good vacuum synch.
Also, be sure you replaced any stock jet needle spacer(s) and in the correct order, when re-installing them onto the DJ needles.
If your problem is at about 1/8 throttle position, a poor carb synch will be especially noticable. Don't try to re-jet until the carbs are synched. This is just basic maintenance. After the synch, you may find the problem is gone. If not, the carbs had to be synched anyway. Then you can focus on the pilot and needle circuits, which overlap each other at this throttle position.
And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!
