    g4 cams-40mmflats, ign

i have a chance to buy g4 cams (175) 44mm flatsides(400), 3 ohm coils and reg plate (160). first of all are these good prices ? will this do much for my stock gsx1100e motor. will the stock motor handle these cams without damaging it. will all this stuff go with my yoshi pipe. will it be best to run pods? has anyone done these mods. need some advice!!!

Well. I blieve those carbs are way too large. I think stock carbs are 34mm. Your stock coils are 3 ohm. I supose that they are aftermarket coils and plate. if the stock ones are ok you really dont need specvial coils. The cams are something i dont know much about but i believe i remember that g3 cams are drop ins and g4 cams need some work.
Maybe just springs and possibly shorter guides but i dont know on the cam things. I think Jake is runnung g4 cAMS IN HIS DAG BIKE.

The carbs are way too big. The cams will work but you need stiffer springs which in turn will wear your cam followers faster than stock. If the ignition is like a DynaS then it's a good upgrade. Definitely run individual pods with whatever carbs you wind up with. I've got a set of 36mm CV flatslides in good shape from a GSXR that I'll let go for $100.

In my 1150 I have bored to 1229, a little head work, G4 Cams, Dyna S ignition, RS38 flatslides, and a V&H megaphone. It all works pretty well together, but is more designed for the drag strip, then the street. Don't get me wrong, it works well on the street too, but you have a lot of top end power, and sacrifice some mid range. For a street bike, I would probably go for G3 cams, and RS36 flatslides, along with the Dyna S, or ideally the Dyna 2000.

The price for the cams is $180 a peice new, on ebay you can find them for less then that for the pair. Carbs you should find on ebay for 300-400.
