180 tire on a 4.5
will a 180 tire fit on a 4.5 inch rim, also whats the bigest tire ya can get on a 3.5 inch rim. not only will they fit but will the still perform well?Tags: None

Stock size tire for a 4.5 is a 160. A 180, especially a low profile tire such as that (55) would be squashed to fit the rim, and would alter the profile of the surface area of the tread. You would get a reduced contact patch. It'd be almost dangerous. I wouldn't go bigger than maybe one size up, say a 170, but even then, the stock rim width for that one is a 5 to 5.5 inch rim. If you plan on drag racing only, and not turning the bike, then put on whatever floats your boat for width.
3.5 rim stock tire is 120/130.
One point to remember is the bike's chassis was never designed for these larger tires.
Besides, if you stuff that wide tire on the rim, it'll alter it enough that you won't gain the actual width you're looking for, and it'll make the edge of your tires useless. Therefore, you end up with an even larger set of chicken strips, ... and that in itself could be humbling...
