Fuel injection-is there a standalone unit available?
just curious, if there was a standalone injection system that would lend itself to adaptation to a GS big bore engine. once the 850 is running right I want to pick up a 1000 engine and go through it, and I think injection would be a nice touch.Tags: None

I know the early Kwaka unit's have been used on GS's, but I have no info on hand, I'll have a look see what I can find.

I have build a injection system for my GS1100. Now it have run fine over year and about 15000 km. I used throttle bodies, injectors and fuel pump from Kawa GPZ1100. The controller is home-made Megasquirt. The project wasn't too bad, I didn't face any serious problems but ofcourse there was lots of things to sort out.
There is some pictures and info about the project:
Check also the Finnish pages for more pictures:

Megasquirt is a mature technology. But "off the shelf" it's not. The off the shelf systems usually require custom throttle bodies and injector mounts... And then they cost anotehr $3-10k.You'd have to be crazy to be sane in this world -Nero
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back....... You probably highsided.
1980 GS550E (I swear it's a 550...)
1982 GS650E (really, it's a 650)
1983 GS550ES (42mpg again)
1996 Yamaha WR250 (No, it's not a 4 stroke.)
