    Installed 40mm Lectrons today

Picked up some new fuel line and a few tee's then pulled off the 38CV's and popped on the lectrons and tighting down the clamps, easy enough. Then cut and piece the four carbs fuel supply lines down to one.

One of these days I'm going to find one of those half gallon fuel cells with two petcocks.

I didn't have a FBG throttle assy so I modified mine to work with the cable. You sure do have to turn the throttle a lot to open these's puppies up.

Primed up the carbs and having see through bowls are nice, then cranked her up. If you twist the throttle to much it did'nt want to start, but if you don't touch it she fires right up. I was in my garage so I couldn't go to WOT, but a few quick twist and she rev's fast and sounded smooth. Only thing left to do is mod the petcock since lectrons don't have vacum ports

Should be back at the track on Friday to see how they do

You can run a vaccum line from the carb synch port (I think this is what it is) right where the rubber boots attach to the head. You need a nipple to do it, I think a cbr 900 has one like what you are looking for.

You must be a mind reader

After I torn apart the petcock I descided not to plug, drill, seal the thing. I just put it back together, only this time I have the vacum port on the petcock pointed forward to the engine.

This let's me run the hose down to the intake runner, remove the allen screw and insert the fitting and vacum hose and I'm good to go in 5 mins.

OEM petcock can not begin to supply enough fuel for Lectrons.

                Not yet, I hope Mark

The clear coat has worn off years ago and it just keeps peeling away. My 7 year old daughter keeps telling me she wants to paint it green but I keep telling her it's not a Kawi.

I did take a hammer and pounded the inside part of the tank to make alittle room for the lectrons cables so you do see alittle concret dusts in that pic.

A problem that I found 30 years ago with vacuum petcocks on drag bikes is that at wide open throttle you may not have enough vacuum to keep the valve fully open. I had fuel starvation because the petcock flow would just about stop at full throttle till the float bowls emptied, then engine would lay down, vacuum would pick up and fill the bowls again. It took a couple of race days to figure that one out.

All good advice..... I'll run the bike tonight and will be taking note's.

I was waiting until this winter to install a 1/2 gal fuel cell with two outlets. Worse case is I might be doing it before this month is over.

I installed a Pingle petcock just to ensure plenty of fuel if I ever hit a 1/4 track

Last week ran a best of 6.06 in the 1/8 with the FBG2 needles set at 1.900. The bike smoked while at idle so I reset the needles to 1.950.

Doesn't smoke anymore at idle and is crisp going to WOT. So I think I finally found my sweet spot for this Friday's outing after a handfull of adjustments.

They make some nice parts. Just an FYI, they can be rebuilt. Just knock out the pin and it can be pressed apart. I tore mine down this year when one of them started to leak a bit.

Did you figure out what your going to use for a fuel tank yet?

I'm going for at least a 1/2 gal cell. Don't want to have any problems with the lectrons and nitrous sucking fuel out of the same tank next year.
