Now that's what I'm talking about

Yeap spend a grand and get a little hotrod. Still cheaper than buying a used Bandit. Plus there's more still out there for you.

        My plan is:

        1100/1197 kit (JE 10.25:1)
        1150 head
        GSXR 36mm carbs (89)

I have been accumulating parts but haven't started it yet. I want Hoomie to get a head start so he finishes up before me.

Check ebay for carb prices there are a few every month. I think up to 91 or 92 will fit but not sure what year they changed the spacing. Do a search there are plenty of threads about the gsxr carb swaps.

That 1168 kit is great. Me thinks 1260 would be better.

I have 3 sets and I made 1 set for my bike. I'm gonna buy a few parts and make one more good set and sell them and keep the 3rd set for parts.

Bolted right on ( 1990 GSXR Carbs )

              Filters are expensive ( RU-2922 K&N = $90.00 )

1260 is great but this is my street bike. I have a Turbo 1325 that is I'm just about to get back together in a better chassis. I had the motor in a stock chassis that was only raked a bit and it was just to much fun trying to keep it from spinning or flying.....

                  1150 head work

who is good/affordable for redoing an 1150 head? I am thinking oversize exhaust valves, minimal cleanup and otherwise leave it alone, don't want a big bucks race head but a good street setup.

                  Stock 1150 cams, 1327 cc.

                      Have you dynoed it yet?
Are the carbs closer to the tank with the 1150 head?

bud, oversize valves are big bucks. Money that could be spent for more hp increases than valves. They are the last thing I would do to get anoter 1/8th out of the 1/4.

Spend the cash on carbs and cams

If your not looking to do crazy porting maybe you could find someone local to help you out. I found a local car guy that was willing to buy the cutters. I save on all the shipping costs and he does the valve job for $200. We turned a bunch of the local bike guys on to him. Some of the heads he's done have gone 8.20's all motor. Another guy had him do the valve job on his 1150 head. He's running 8.60's on a high compression 1198 cc GS motor in a conversion chassi.
