    Cranks !

I had my crank sorted by "Crankshafts Unlimited" of Canvey Island, Essex, Uk. Would recommend their services to anybody looking for quality.
For ?400. pounds sterling they replaced all my bearings, fitted new weight matched rods, lightened the whole thing, welded it, and dynamically balanced it. Good quick turn-around, and very freindly.
    Cheers
    Jon.

Well I guess with all of the info. given I should take the time and have it done right. I like the the $80.00 price tag rather than the more expensive ones. If BIG JAY could give me some information about A.P.E's services and the cost I would more than likely send it there. I have delt with A.P.E on several occasion and have always gotten good friendly service at a decent price. If any one has someone that they trust and dose not mind giving out the info. my ears are open.

I just spoke with a guy at A.P.E. and he told me that the cost of getting my Crank Magna fluxed, Straightened, and Welded will cost me aroung 180.00 plus shipping with a 3 week turn around. So for around 200.00 I should be able to take care of my Crank and be able to do wheeles with no fear.

And they have a good name in our community so it sounds like you found a really good deal

You'll be really glad you did this Greg years from now when you are still running hard and no twisted crank. Especially when you see guys post who have twisted theirs.

There was apparently a misunderstanding. The price you were quoted is for a plain bearing crank.

For roller cranks we offer check for twist and weld $79.00 If it is twisted, then we will quote a rebuild / repair.

              Thanks Jay,
I am sure that I am going to have it done now. I do not belive that the crank is twisted at least it dose not feel like it. Is it normally expensive to have the crank fixed if it is no off much.

If it is twisted, we don't fix it. We are not set up for that. I know of no one that will just "un twist" it.

If you want to check it out, do this; Put your degree wheel on the crank, and find top dead center of #1 using the solid stop method ( not a dial indicator). Then move the TDC tool to #4 and it should be at TDC at exactly the same reading. If it is not, the crank is twisted out of index.

A.P.E sales a TDC tool. Is that what you are refering to. I do not have one but will order it if it works.

Yes. It is the only accurate way to find TDC.
