HELP!! Will a 96-99 GSXR 750 front end work for 82 GS1100E?
Can I use these? It comes with the the wheel, brakes, calipers, triples, legs. My only concern is their length really. But it would be nice if it could bolt right up. Would the 954 upper triple work for these forks?Tags: None

the 954 triple will work and it will give you 1/2 inch extra height. i am using the 954 triple. check out my thread The Tribal GS in the performance mods. im doing this same mod but my forks are 1993 750s. or here is the link for pics, notice that you will have to mod some steering stops to keep from hitting the tank. otherwise it should bolt right up. you will have to click on view entire album to see the forks.

I think the SRAD designation came in '96. You wil have to swap the roller bearings for tapered bearings.

Thanks all. appreciate the info. trying to absorb as much info as possible here. This is a great forum. Had no idea there were so many so passionate about the GS

I would have asked this question in a new thread but it this one looked like a good one to piggy-back off of.
I can't go out and do much measuring right now, as I'm kinda stuck in Iraq for a few more months. I'm mapping my winter project out now though, and bidding on parts now so my wife can go nuts when large boxes start rolling in...
Which brings me to the questions. The earlier inverted GSXR front ends are getting expensive as hell (seems everyone with an old GS is bidding on them). There's a lot of the newer stuff out there, it's cheaper and probably in better shape. So, how hard to make work? If we can make it easy it would open up a few more avenues for the builders. Here are some thoughts:
1. There have been some comments about the newer triples going away from the roller bearings, but it sounds like the bearings could simply be swapped. That is, if the steering stems are the same lengths. Looks like the same bearings were used from '96 up through mid 00's, so rollers will fit onto the stem, but stem length...
2. No speedo drive. Could get a hall sensor off an electronic speedo bike and use the digital speedo/tach from a newer gixxer. This would be really easy to do and look friggin' cool. Without having one to look at I'd think the GSXR sensor and magnets on the drive sprocket would be a straight forward mod and there are circuit boards you can buy for calibration. Have to figure out some of the logistics but this should be an easy one to work out.
3. The forks started getting shorter. Ok, how much? I'm gonna go with more of a drag profile and am dropping the bike anyway, so not that big of an issue for me. But if they're not too much shorter, esp. in the SRAD bikes, maybe not that big of a problem. Or maybe the CBR triples would work (don't know diameters...).
Thanks for any insight you guys can throw my way. Always looking for a better mousetrap...

They will give you about an extra inch of clearance. You'll have to have fork stops welded to the lower triple. The '88 was the shortest front end but it was a conventional style anyway. You'll need to stick to 750 forks if you go with the 954 triple since it was 50mm top and bottom. The 1100 forks were something like 50 or 52 mm at the top and 54mm at the bottom.
