gs 850-2 valve Port & Polish

I plan a mild street clean-up & port/polish job on my 850 head. I don't want to go wild on this head just improve power a bit. I will be cutting the valve guides flush with the head where they intrude into the intake or exhaust, polishing up the combustion chambers & then grinding out the casting marks etc. I must admit I am afraid to grind out much material knowing that a wrong turn can cause me to lose power instead of gaining. I have seen where people have used epoxy to reshape their chambers & there is all kinds of conflicting information out there.
Has anyone done this to a 750/850/1000 2 valve head? Can you give me any advice?

    Anyone got pics?

Do you have the pre-80 head or after?
